Xerostomia (Dry mouth) occurs when your body can't produce enough saliva. There are several symptoms that may indicate dry mouth such as bad breath, sticky or dry feeling in the mouth, difficultly eating and swallowing and fast plaque and tarter build up. Additionally, certain health conditions often contribute to dry mouth such as diabetes, HIV, AIDS and Parkinson’s disease. There are also certain medications and therapies that can reduce salivary flow and production leading to dry mouth. It is important not to ignore dry mouth symptoms.
