Removable partial dentures are another option for replacing missing teeth. This type of denture is fabricated from a combination of metal and a flexible material that will blend in with the existing gum tissue in the mouth. There are also clasps that attach to existing teeth that help to hold the partial in place. These clasps can be made of metal or a clear material that is less visible.
Just as in complete dentures, impressions of the oral cavity are taken and sent to the laboratory. About two weeks later the first try-in is scheduled to ensure proper fit before a final partial is made. If the fit is good the final partial is fabricated and delivered to the patient about two to three weeks later.
Partial dentures if they fit properly are a great option to help make a patient’s mouth function better but also improve overall aesthetics.
